What Is FSVP

An FDA Requirement Under FSMA, Not Optional

The Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) is an FDA requirement under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). It requires the US importer of record for food products to verify that their foreign suppliers meet US food safety standards, before that food ever reaches an Amazon warehouse, a Shopify fulfillment center, or a US port.

No FSVP compliance means no legal import. This applies whether you're a foreign brand shipping your own product into FBA, or a US-based importer bringing in food from overseas suppliers.

Do I need FSVP compliance if I only sell on Amazon, not through a traditional distributor?

Yes. FSVP applies to the US importer of record regardless of sales channel. Amazon FBA and Shopify DTC shipments are still subject to the same FDA import requirements as traditional wholesale.

I'm a US-based importer already doing some of this myself. Can GOL just take over?
