• Why it matters: MoCRA is the biggest overhaul of cosmetics regulations in the US since 1938. It gives the FDA more power to ensure cosmetic safety.
• New authorities for the FDA: The FDA can now order mandatory recalls of risky cosmetics, request access to safety records, and implement stricter quality manufacturing practices.
• New requirements for manufacturers: Companies must register their facilities and list their products with the FDA. They also need to comply with new labeling rules and provide more data on ingredient safety.
